Commercial Construction’s next project, Upton Mansion, breaks ground!

Commercial Construction is proud to serve as the general contractor for the historic restoration of Upton Mansion in Baltimore, Maryland. On February 28th, we joined Afro Charities, city officials, and community leaders to break ground on this transformative project.

Originally built in 1838, Upton Mansion is a Baltimore City Landmark with a rich history. It has housed Maryland’s first radio station, the Baltimore Institute for Musical Arts, and the Upton School. After sitting vacant since 2006, this significant site will be revitalized into a dynamic space that will house the offices of Afro Charities, AFRO American Newspapers, and other tenants. The redevelopment includes restoring the mansion and carriage house, constructing a new annex, and extensive site work to ensure the campus is ADA accessible for the first time in its nearly 200-year history.

We are honored to work alongside Afro Charities, Ziger|Snead Architects, and Cross Street Partners on this project. We look forward to bringing new life to Upton Mansion while preserving its legacy for generations to come.
