12 Dec Commercial Construction Awarded AGC’s Safe GC of the Year!
Commercial Construction is honored to be the recipient of the 2019 Safe General Contractor of The Year Award presented by the Maryland Associated General Contractors (AGC). The award recognizes general contractors for exemplary safety practices and commitment to occupational health management and risk control.
Under normal circumstances, the award presentation takes place during the annual Champions of Safety Awards program. Due to COVID-19, this year’s award was presented at the Commercial Construction headquarters in Hanover, Maryland, by Fred Geisler, President and CEO, and Sue Battey, Director of Member Services and Training, of the Maryland AGC.
Led by Gary Matthews, Director of Safety, Commercial Construction operates with the highest safety standards. Across each of its job sites, Matthews implements various practices to ensure a safe work environment and minimize risks. His comprehensive program includes mandatory safety orientation for employees and subcontractors, OSHA 10 and 30-hour classes, daily safety meetings, and consistent monitoring.
“It’s crucial to uphold our safety standards with the entire project team regularly to minimize risks on our job sites,” Gary Matthews.
The Maryland AGC also recognized Commercial Construction for safety excellence consecutively in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 for achieving zero lost time and for achievement of an incident rate 100% below the Bureau of Labor statistics.
