Happy Retirement To Denis Cloutier!

Happy Retirement To Denis Cloutier!

Commercial Interiors wants to wish Denis Cloutier a happy and well-earned retirement! Denis is a veteran of the industry, beginning his journey back in 1964. After 60 years in construction, he is finally ready to leave his work boots at home.

Denis’ father was also a construction worker in Quebec. After he lost his job, Denis’ father moved the family across the border to America, where Denis would follow in his father’s steel-toed footsteps into the construction industry.

“My very first job in construction was to translate for the French guys. Over time I learned how to read the drawings and moved up in the business. I started at Commercial as a site manager in 2007. In 2011, Milton Matthews, CI President called me to ask if I would consider being a safety manager. I was starting to get up there in age and wanted a change but I was not ready to stop. I became OSHA certified and really enjoyed mentoring younger workers. It was a good ride at Commercial. I enjoyed it.”

Now Denis’ son, Eric, is in construction, and he chuckled saying it accidentally became the family business.

Denis plans on spending his retirement with his wife Mary of 55 years, traveling and dancing when they can.

“There are 10 states left in the country that we haven’t visited. We’ve been to Alaska. We’ve been to Hawaii. The rest of them are easy. We used to go dancing all the time. My wife doesn’t move like she used to, but we can still slow dance. We aren’t rich but we have a good life and now we are entering a different phase of it.”

Congratulations on a wonderful career, Denis! We will miss you!
